On Les Miserables

I wanted to post about Les Mis right after I saw it, which was like a week ago. But then I wanted to give everyone else a chance to see it, and I hope that you've seen it now, because I'm going to talk about it, by golly. I saw it again last night, and it gave me a fresher view, less clouded by my dewy eyed fangirling.
Although, let me tell you, my eyes were just as dewy the second time, if you know what I mean....

So, yeah, the movie was excellent. Let's talk about it.
Favorite things:
1. Marius.
You guys, Marius was perfection. His performance of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables stole my heart. I was bawling. And Eddie Redmayne is a doll. Let's just be honest here.

2. Inspector Javert
Despite critics' low expectations for him, Russell Crowe owned that Javert. Stars was incredible. His suicide was heart-stopping. His voice had a clarity to it that none of the other cast members had, and I loved it.

3. Fantine
Okay? I'm glad we're all in agreement.

4. The finale.
When Valjean is with Cosette and Marius! And then Anne Hathaway comes again! And then he dies! And then I die!
And then when the reprise of Do You Hear the People Sing starts...
And all the characters that passed away are on their little heaven barricade!
It was perfection. I couldn't even take it.

5. Gavroche.

Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.
He was so cute. I almost died.
When he sang "Do You Hear the People Sing", I almost died.
When he did his cute little boy smirk, I almost died.
And then they shot him, I did die.
True story, you guys.
Hashtag realtalk. (I just said that.)

I don't even think I can talk any more about favorite things, because I just won't stop. I mean, seriously, you didn't even get me started on my beloved Hugh Jackman. OR the fact that Colm Wilkinson played the bishop. Because I can't even go there. I just can't.

So let's just talk about less favorite things for a second.
1. Lovely Ladies.
But we all knew that would be no bueno. The second time I saw the movie, I just spent that whole scene braiding my pull-apart Twizzler. Because, just, no.

2. They didn't sing the whole Little Fall of Rain song.
Which is just sad.

3. They could have done a lot more creative camera work.
I felt like all the characters were in your face the whole time. Like, the camera didn't move away from Anne Hathaway's face for the entire duration of "I Dreamed a Dream." And I was like, "Okay. You can stop now. She has a booger coming out of her nose." For reals.

Other than that, this movie was incredible. Pretty much my favorite movie right now. The acting was flawless. Everything was amazing.
And for my excessive use of GIF's in this post, I do not apologize.

Sick day.

Oh hey world. I totally have a nasty cold or something, so I'm just chilling on my couch with my snuggie, my teddy bear/corny bag, a bag of dried apricots, and the Les Mis 25th anniversary DVD. It's my favorite {the Les Mis dvd, not being sick. Bleck}. Anyway, it's basically a concert of the play. So it's not too different from the actual play, except there's not really acting. And Marius is played by Nick Jonas {like, the Jonas brother....awk}. And they have a thing at the end where all the original stage actors for the original cast come up, and like four Jean Valjean actors come out and do a MAGICAL quartet of "Bring Him Home". It's pretty much my favorite thing. In fact, here, I'll show you that part. Because I love you.

Oh yeah, and the oldest guy {the original Jean Valjean} is going to play the bishop in the movie that's coming out NEXT MONTH. Oh my gosh, guys. I freaked out, a lot. Because that is so perfect.
Speaking of perfect, I suppose I could also show you the video of the finale from my DVD too. Because I am so nice, and that performance is quite beautiful also.

So, there you are. If you don't have this DVD, and you love Les Mis too, you should go on Youtube, because they pretty much have all the songs on there, separately, and you can listen to Alfie Boe's delicious voice.

So thats all I'm going to go back to sleep now. Toodaloo.

P.S. I just realized that I kind of talk about Les Mis a lot. Which is weird. Kind of. I do LOVE it. Like, a lot. But there are other things I love too. It's just kind of weird that I've written so much about it. Probably I'm just excited to see the movie in December. With Hugh Jackman. And Anne Hathaway. And Helen Bonham Carter. AHH! Yes. Yes, that's it. {smile}

Favorite Movies.

Movies are a difficult subject for me.
Whenever anyone asks what my favorite movie is, I think of the movie that I like best at that moment, or that I would like to be watching at that moment instead of having a conversation with said person.
But then, immediately as I think of that movie, it's like the dam breaks on my favorite-movies-river and all the wonderful movies I've seen flood into my brain, and before anyone knows it, I haven't even answered the person, and I'm like this:
CAN'T.... DECIDE....
SO. MANY. WONDERFUL. MOVIES.
WHY WOULD YOU PUT ME THROUGH THIS TORMENT??

And the poor person who probably really wanted to know what my favorite movie was is just like,

So let me just answer this question with a list. A filtered list.

My absolute favorite movie (and it will probably change due to the guilt I will feel for leaving out all the other good movies) (but maybe not, because this movie is freaking wonderful beyond belief):
The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Movies that I feel guilty for not mentioning as my favorite, because they are SO SO beautifully awesome, but not EXACTLY as awesome as Hunchback:
  • The Sound of Music. I actually kind of have a Sound of Music shrine in my bedroom. I can't believe I just admitted that to the internet...
  • A Little Princess. So cheesy, but I love it so so much.
Best Disney movies of all time, besides Hunchback:
  • Mulan. I'm sorry, Rapunzel, but she's the coolest princess. I love Rapunzel, she comes in an extremely close second. But did you see Mulan pretty much bury the Huns with her cleverness and a cannon? And she was fighting for her father. She's rockin'.
  • Tangled. Tangled is my favorite princess movie. Maybe I like Mulan and Rapunzel the same. AHHHH. I CAN'T DECIDE! I love Tangled, though. I pretty much want Pascal and Eugene Fitzherbert to be my best friends. And my friend Erika says the scene where she is battling with herself about whether or not leaving the tower was a good idea reminded her of me. ......Gee, I wonder why.......
  • The Lion King. That movie is rock solid. Hands down awesome.
  • Up. Please don't make me explain why I love Up. I'm starting to feel guilty that it's not my very favorite...
  • All the Toy Story movies. If you don't at least kind of enjoy Toy Story, you have no soul.
  • Beauty and the Beast. Please hold while I sing and dance to all of the songs.
  • Enchanted. See Beauty and the Beast explanation.
  • Cinderella 3. Dude. So intense. Don't bang it 'til you watch it. It gave me newfound respect for the whole Cinderella franchise.
  • The Incredibles. That movies so does not get enough credit. The theme music is now running through my head.
  • The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Dude. It's Lizzieeeeeeee! You can't even hate.
Movie series that are so awesome that you shouldn't even get me started (these are in order from bestest to best, by the way):
  • Harry Potter. If you don't like Harry Potter, then apply the following:
  •  The Chronicles of Narnia. Don't even talk to me about the fact that they're not making movies for the rest of the series. JUST LEAVE THE MOVIE-WATCHING WORLD HANGING, ALRIGHT????
  • The Hunger Games. WHAHHHH!!!!! {<---Make of that what you will...} I am so excited for the rest of the series to be released in movies! They did a great job on the first movie. The world's minds will be BLOWN by the sequels, though. :D
  • The Lord of the Rings. I seriously LOVE this series. I haven't watched them enough times to remember every single character's names, and all the names of the different species and whatnot, just because the movies are so long, and I like to sit down and watch the whole movie, and I don't have time to do that, but, I seriously love it. I used to be in love with Sam Gamgee. Like, I was in a relationship with him on Facebook for a period of time.
  • ...You think I'm kidding about that last sentence....
  • Star Wars. If you hate Star Wars, there is something quite wrong with the way your brain cells are arranged. It is not my absolute favorite thing ever ever, but how can you not like it??
Movies that make me chuckle, so I love them to death:
  • Nacho Libre. Ohmygosh. The best.
  • Mean Girls. "And I was like, 'WHY are you so OBSESSED with me??'" Bahahahaha...
  • Legally Blonde. "Happy people just don't kill their husbands. They just don't."
  • She's the Man. "'Sup?" "Yeah, what's kickin', homie?" "Later." "Hey, you forgot this... cool-io." "Word, g-money."
  • Night at the Museum 1 & 2. "Crimey, we've been jimmy-jacked!"
Honorable Mention:
  • The Notebook. I uncontrollably sobbed the first time I watched it. And by uncontrollably, I mean that try as I might, I could not hold the tears inside my eyelids, and they busted out, and I was out loud sobbing. Such a sad/beautiful movie. Good grief.
Of course, when Les Miserable comes out in movie theaters, and I see it at midnight, I'll be all,
And it will be my favorite movie ever ever ever for the rest of forever.
The end.

So I got around to looking up the actor for Marius in the Les Mis movie, and...

Oh my.
I'm just sayin'... ;)

But then, I scrolled down and saw another picture that I will not include in this post. It made me sad.

Because apparently he's gay, guys.

I know, super sad.

But, you know,

At least there's this:
And as long as we have this disco dancing Peeta Mellark around, the hot gay guys can't get us down.
They just can't.

GIRL POWER YEAH.

A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now.

I'm going to see Les Miserables tonight at ASU Gammage Theater!
Last night I was prancin' around my mom's room singing "One Day More", because there was one more day until we were going to see it, and I'm freaking clever like that.

So yes, my mom are going to leave in, like, less than an hour to go to Olive Garden and eat a bunch of breadsticks, and maybe some dinner {this is me implying that they have unmatchably delicious breadsticks at Olive Garden}. I am so very very very excited. I wish I had waterproof mascara, though, because I am pretty positive that I will weep {about the show, not the breadsticks}.

Also, I promised Jadyn that I would share with you this video:

So there you have it, folks.
